Psychosocial discovery conversations

It can be easy to get overwhelmed with the new positive duty to eliminate or reduce risks from psychosocial hazards. You’ve been told that you have to do a risk assessment and put a control plan in place for any risks identified but how do you that with things like “lack of role clarity” and “inadequate reward and recognition” and “remote or isolated work” and all of the others? And there are so many of these psychosocial hazards – where do you start? We know and we are here to help.

Our Psychosocial Discovery Conversations

If you are an employer who cares about your people and tries to do the right thing by them, you are probably already doing at least some of the psychosocial stuff right.

You will also want to get on top of this positive duty and any risks from psychosocial hazards but you need to learn what that all looks like in the context of your business and your people ie how might the various psychosocial hazards manifest in your backyard and what can you do about them in simple and practical terms?

Our Practice Leader, Peter Maguire will guide you through the process of understanding exactly:

  • what each of the psychosocial hazards might look like in your business and workplace context
  • what strengths/assets you have in place already that you can build on
  • what risks might require further assessment and potentially control measures
  • how to engage your people in the process and
  • how to structure your policies and procedures for optimal effect

And you get all of that in a 2.5 hour “real life” conversation with you and your leadership team and/or your safety committee. And he’ll follow up with a set of actions to get you going.

Why Peter?

Because he is a bit different in the way that he approaches compliance requirements.

He recognises the cross overs between good business operational processes, positive thinking, employee engagement and HR and WHS compliance – they all require much the same ingredients just blended in the right way. And getting that blend right is what creates psychologically safe workplaces.

Peter knows because he is an acknowledged workplace relations compliance expert, a positive psychology, employee engagement and wellbeing practitioner, a former Investors In People Assessor and Total Quality management trainer and facilitator and an accomplished consultant and story teller. He has been doing all of that for over 30 years.
